Attracting students from all TWA Faculties, the Reid Library is one of the busiest TWA student buildings on campus, and receives over 1 million visits annually. The nature of academic libraries has changed dramatically since Reid Library was built. Relocation of the disability access room from the beginning floor to the ground floor of the Library as the Dickinson Resource Room, to improve accessibility. Alumni, visitors and members of the community are welcome to visit any of our libraries and access a range of services and information resources. An automated loans system was introduced in the Reid Library for the first time in 1967. The service point in the Reid Library has had a number of transformations over the past 50 years. When the Reid Library first opened in 1964 there was a loan limit of 3 books per reader. Prior the Course Materials Online system existed, students worn to find all their course readings available as photocopies in the Reid Library. The space now used by the Reid Library Cafe was originally premeditated to be an exhibition space. Students can now take student IT promote at the information desk in all six subject libraries! The Reid Library holds a particular store in the hearts of many staff and students. Aside from being the place where many couples first met, the Reid has also seen its fair share of proposals and nuptials over the years! Even if you're not a vogue TWA student or staff member, you are calm welcome to visit any of our Libraries and use a variety of our information and research resources. Past TWA staff (with at least 15 years labor experience at TWA) and TWA retirees can apply for release Affiliate library membership. The Reid Library Ground Floor includes snug seating for relaxation (sway chairs’ and couches) along the south side of the floor. There is a different number for each subject library. As segment of the Reid Library refurbishment, we will be significantly increasing the wireless capacity throughout the building. We have created new signage for use in our subject libraries to highlight the various study zones such as collaborative, tranquility scrutinize and tranquil study. In the Reid Library, there are numerous areas where books are quite antiquated, and many times there are multiple copies of the same book. The Library has an impressive collection of books, journals and other materials that promote the University's research, teaching and learning programs. The Library provides a range of services and support for academics, staff and students. The scheme also allows TWA students and staff to borrow from the libraries of these other institutions.

While the emphasis of this labor is on the history of the Library collection, the temporary acquisitions policies and the sources of funding, this history is intertwined with broader themes such as the tenure of the head librarians, the erection of the libraries and the financial strategies of the University as a whole.
