Spanning 210 hectares of trees, the project is a fully integrated operation, having grown the root stock on location through to the harvesting and packing of the citrus for supply to market. The orchard has been developed to capitalism on the opportunity of providing fresh, local citrus to the WA domestic market. The project has focused on developing enough scale to load local WA market needs as a priority and enable potential value chain development direct into supermarkets. The orchard delivers lofty quality fruit which exceeds market demands and establishes a demand for local fruit in the WA market. To support this, purpose built infrastructure will remain to be built onside, further boosting regional employment opportunities and stimulating the local economy. This aims to include an onside pack shed which is scheduled to be built as fruit picking volumes increase. Moira Citrus is also occupied with the local citrus industry in WA to target export opportunities in the Asian Pacific region, diversifying opportunities to produce high quality citrus into premium markets.
